Urolesan drops: indications, contraindications, rules of use

Photo 1

For pathologies of the body's excretory systems, namely: the bladder, kidneys, biliary tract and gall bladder, the drug Urolesan has proven itself to be excellent. Drops, tablets or syrup are created from natural plant ingredients.

They are used as a component of complex therapy, providing not only therapeutic, but also preventive effects, and have almost no side effects.

Composition of the drug

fir cones

“Urolesan” is a herbal medicine, that is, it contains exclusively natural substances of plant origin. Such drugs are highly therapeutically effective, have almost no contraindications and, most importantly, are not addictive.

According to the instructions for use, Urolesan drops have the following composition:

  • Fir oil (8 g). It is extracted from the needles and young shoots of Siberian fir. The oil has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal, analgesic properties. It is rich in phytoncides, which suppress or inhibit the growth of pathogenic microorganisms.
  • Peppermint oil (2 g). Mint contains such important components for the body as: rutin, flavonoids, carotene, ascorbic acid. But the main active ingredient is menthol. It is an important metabolite.
  • Castor oil or castor oil (11 g). The substance is rich in Omega fatty acids: oleic, linoleic, ricinoleic. The latter, when taken orally, causes a reflex enhancement, a wave-like contraction of the intestinal walls, promoting the normal movement of its contents.
  • Alcohol extract from wild carrot seeds (23 g). The root vegetable contains carotene. The plant stimulates redox processes inside cells and has disinfecting, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic properties.
  • Alcoholic hop cone extract (33 g). The plant is an antioxidant and mild psycholeptic.
  • Alcoholic extract of oregano (23 g). The herb contains carvacrol, which has bactericidal and antiallergic properties.
  • Trilon B (0.005 g).

The quantitative content of components is indicated per 100 g of the drug.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Pregnancy in many cases involves giving up many medications, including herbal ones. Doctors who observed pregnant women with functional disorders of the kidneys and liver speak positively about the drug, since Urolesan during pregnancy helped patients get rid of many problems without causing complications. According to reviews from the women themselves, it was much more convenient for them to take Urolesan tablets due to the lack of a specific herbal taste, which causes disgust in many pregnant women.

During breastfeeding, taking the drug also has no contraindications, since clinical studies have not revealed the presence of its components in breast milk. The only thing you should pay attention to when prescribing Urolesan to nursing mothers is the form of the drug: drops that contain alcohol (even in small quantities) are better replaced with syrup or tablets.

Dosage form

urolesan capsules

Pharmaceutical companies produce the drug in three forms:

  • Urolesan drops for oral administration. They come in 15 ml bottles or 15 or 25 ml dropper bottles.
  • Gelatin-coated capsules. They are produced in cardboard packs of 10, 20, 30, 40 pieces. or in a polypropylene jar of 50, 60, 100 or 120 pcs.
  • Syrup called "Urolesan M". The composition is similar to drops, but sugar syrup is added. It is this form that is more preferable for children. The drug is available in 90 or 180 ml bottles, packed in a cardboard box. A dispenser syringe is included in the package.

What is Urolesan?

"Urolesan" is a domestically produced drug that has been known on the pharmacological market for more than 30 years. The medicine is an analogue of the foreign drug Cystenal, but is slightly more effective.

It is used in the complex treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system (cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis), cholelithiasis, chronic cholecystitis. To treat cystitis, drugs with antibacterial, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic effects are used. "Urolesan" meets all these criteria and helps the patient in a short time.

The drug is used not only in the acute period of the disease, but also as a prevention of exacerbations.

Availability, effectiveness and frequent prescription allow this drug to remain in demand. And the shortcomings (bitter taste, specific smell) are removed with the release of new forms of the medicine - capsules, syrup.

Medicinal effect

The product has metabolic, antiseptic, choleretic, diuretic, antispasmodic and diuretic properties. The drug is quickly absorbed into the intestinal wall. Promptly eliminates attacks of severe pain in the area of the kidneys and liver. Helps relax the smooth muscles of the intestines, bile and urinary tracts. Enhances the synthesis and secretion of bile by hepatocytes and the gallbladder. Improves hepatic blood flow.

In the instructions for use, Urolesan drops are indicated as a metabolic. The drug enhances the release of urea - the end product of the breakdown of proteins and chlorides (salt solutions). An excess of the latter leads to disruption of the acid-base balance of the blood. Helps remove very small stones and sand from the urethral bladder and kidneys. The drug affects the pH of urine, acidifying it and forming a protective colloid. Normalizes daily diuresis. Reduces inflammation in the urinary tract and kidneys.

Half an hour after administration, the drug begins its effect, which lasts about 5 hours. An extremely high effect is achieved within 1.5-2 hours. The drug is excreted by the kidneys and through the gastrointestinal tract.

How does it affect the body? (Pharmacodynamics)

The medicine has an effect on the genitourinary system and biliary tract. Moreover, there are several impacts at the same time:

  • antiseptic: the oils contained in the medicine have antibacterial and antiviral activity and disinfect;
  • urinary and choleretic: active substances stimulate the fibers of smooth muscle cells that are found in the walls of blood vessels, ureters, bile ducts, and all hollow internal organs;
  • antispasmodic: oils relax spasmodic smooth muscle fibers, causing them to contract at the right pace and in the right direction;
  • acidifies urine, helping to remove excess salts from the body.

Very rarely, negative reactions occur from taking herbal medicine. However, if they arise, this is expressed in the appearance of:

  • heartburn, nausea or diarrhea;
  • dizziness and general weakness associated with decreased blood pressure;
  • allergic reactions with skin manifestations or rhinitis.

If signs of overdose appear, drink as much water or tea as possible and lie down until you feel better. If symptoms have not gone away within 12 hours, consult a doctor.

In what cases is the drug prescribed?

symptoms of pyelonephritis

The use of Urolesan in drops, tablets and syrup is indicated for the following diseases:

  • Urolithiasis or urolithiasis. Provided that the size of the stones does not exceed 0.3 cm.
  • A disease in which stones form in the hollow organ that collects bile or the bile ducts (cholelithiasis).
  • Pyelonephritis.
  • Inflammation of a hollow organ that stores bile – cholecystitis.
  • Violation of the functionality of the organs of the biliary system - biliary dyskinesia.
  • Liver disease, unspecified.
  • Urinary stones, unspecified.
  • Calcium oxalate and uric acid stones.
  • Disorder of the urinary system.
  • Pathologies of the urinary tract caused by pathogenic microbes.
  • Various infectious kidney diseases.
  • Acute stage of pyelitis.

Overdose and side effects

Photo 9
Overdose of the drug is extremely rare. If this happens, then unpleasant symptoms such as abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea, frequent urination, allergic rash, and headache may occur.

To avoid this, in case of an overdose, you need to drink as much clean water as possible, induce vomiting and take activated carbon in the proportion of one tablet per 10 kilograms of weight or Enterosgel.

Large doses of the drug do not pose any particular danger, but it is worth monitoring how you feel. If it worsens, you should seek medical help.

The instructions for Urolesan drops indicate the following side effects:

  • allergic reactions: itching, rash, facial redness, burning, swelling, difficulty breathing;
  • from the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, heartburn, bloating, flatulence, belching;
  • general signs: deterioration of health, weakness, dizziness, drowsiness, drop in blood pressure.

If any alarming symptoms occur, you should stop taking the medication.

Active removal of stones and sand from the kidneys and other organs of the urinary system can cause pain and spasms. In this case, you should not stop taking the drug. You should consult your doctor and find something that will relieve your symptoms.

Contraindications

The active ingredients of the drug are a complex of various medicinal plants. Some components are presented in the form of extracts and therefore have an excessive concentration. In addition, the drug has an alcohol base, which is unsafe for certain pathologies or for patients of a certain age. Based on these factors, the drug is not recommended for use in the following diseases:

  • Individual intolerance to drug components.
  • The presence of large stones in the kidneys (diameter of stones more than 3 mm).

Urolesan drops for children: instructions for use

syrup for baby

Young patients are allowed to use the medication from 6 years of age, and capsules, in general, from 18 years of age. Parents who give the drug without a doctor's prescription should take this fact into account and be very careful.

The drops have a not very pleasant smell and a rancid taste, which children really don’t like. Therefore, it is recommended to add drops to granulated sugar or refined sugar. Children over 6 years old are given the drug 4-5 ml three times a day before meals. The duration of therapy is the same as for adults, but without increasing the dose.

In the instructions and reviews, Urolesan drops are advised to be replaced with syrup when used by children. Parents explain this by saying that the syrup is sweet and children are more willing to drink it. Recommended doses of syrup:

  • For children aged 6-7 years, 2-4 ml are measured using a dosing syringe and given 3 times a day before meals.
  • 7-14 years – 5 ml three times a day.

Cystitis therapy

Urolesan has the highest characteristics when treating women. Urolesan drops for cystitis are most often used. Plants and essential oils affect the microflora of the affected area. They do not drive microbes into tissues, but kill them, stopping the spread.

Urolesan for children
But the reception involves the use of not only this remedy, but a set of measures in which Urolesan for cystitis will complement the effect of the main therapy drug. It is taken together with antispasmodic medications.

  • relief of symptoms;
  • treatment of relapses.
  • inflammation;

When taking Urolesan, the method depends on the type of pathology, form of progression, rate of development and degree of infection. The herbal composition of the drug can be purchased without a prescription, so if you are completely sure of the disease, you can begin treatment before visiting a doctor.

But it is still necessary to get checked.

Urolesan for cystitis is used according to a certain scheme and in various forms:

  1. The drops are suitable for different ages: adults and children under 7 years old in dosage: dissolve 10 drops well and take in the morning, afternoon and evening before meals. It will take a lot of water to supply the necessary amount of fluid to the body. Liquid solutions are suitable for children, but for their course the dose is reduced to 6 drops.

For cystitis, liquid syrup is taken in the following volumes: 1-2 ml - up to 1 year; 2-4 ml - up to 7 years; 4-5 ml - up to 14 years. The syrup is not prohibited as a therapy for adults. Reviews from patients who took the syrup are as high as when taking other forms. There are a lot of good characteristics.

Urolesan tablets: treatment of diseases of the genitourinary system

Urolesan is a combination drug that is used to eliminate pathological processes in the kidneys and bladder.

It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and antispasmodic effects. Urolesan is not an antibacterial drug; it is made from components of plant origin. Can be used for both adults and children.

I would like to emphasize that Urolesan in capsule form is not prescribed to children under 14 years of age. According to the instructions for use, they are prescribed the drug in the form of syrup and drops.

Urolesan syrup can be prescribed to children starting from the age of one. Medicines are prescribed to children, regardless of the form of release, and are divided into three doses.

Analogues of "Urolesan"

remedy blemaren

If for some reason, for example, intolerance to one of the components, the use of the drug is not possible, it can be replaced with similar means.

Herbal medicine analogues:

  • "Flavia." A medicine used for urolithiasis, urethral infections, chronic cholecystitis.
  • "Madder dye extract." Indications for the drug: nephrourolithiasis, inflammatory phosphaturia.
  • “Ginjaleling” is a herbal medicine for the treatment of urolithiasis and the removal of small stones.

Synthetic drugs:

  • "Blemaren" is a drug that has a nephrolitholytic effect and alkalizes urine.
  • "Cimalon" is a drug with diuretic properties. Causes regression of dysuric symptoms, reduces urine pH.

Indications for use:

In general therapy and urology, the drug is used in the treatment of:

  • urolithiasis;
  • cholelithiasis;
  • acute or chronic pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis;
  • acute or chronic pyelonephritis;
  • inflammation of the intrahepatic bile ducts (cholangiohepatitis);
  • dyskinesia (impaired motor skills) of the digestive system.

The herbal medicine is also used to prevent exacerbations of any of the listed diseases.

The medicine is contraindicated:

  • chronic alcoholics (it contains 60% pure ethyl alcohol);
  • people with allergies to components;
  • with cholelithiasis or urolithiasis there are a lot of small stones (the drug stimulates the excretion of urine and bile, and can provoke the release of a stone that gets stuck at the mouth of the bile duct or ureter).

According to the instructions for use of urolesan, capsules should be taken with caution:

  • people with gastric or duodenal ulcers,
  • children under 18 years old,
  • pregnant and lactating women (as prescribed by a doctor).

Urolesan drops: reviews

Most patients note positive therapeutic dynamics after using the drug. Some, despairing of finding an effective drug, are pleasantly surprised by the results. Patients like that the product is natural and non-addictive. Relief is felt almost immediately, renal colic quickly subsides and if you do not stop the course, it no longer bothers you.

The only thing that the reviews are dissatisfied with is that the instructions for using Urolesan drops do not indicate whether the course can be repeated, and what the interval between therapies should be. The dissatisfaction is more due to the fact that you still have to visit a doctor. Patients also consider the disgusting taste to be a disadvantage.

Why cystitis requires mandatory treatment

If cystitis is not treated, the disease becomes chronic, periodically worsens, leading to complications, involving other organs in the pathological process in addition to the bladder. When surrounding tissues are damaged, inflammation in a woman can spread to the genital area (ovaries, fallopian tubes), affecting reproductive function.

Chronic cystitis can also lead to irreversible changes in the structure and functions of the affected organ; the disease is difficult to treat. Periodically repeated inflammation of the bladder walls can cause vesicoureteral reflux and, as a consequence, pyelonephritis (inflammation of the kidneys).

A well-known doctor in the Russian-language mass media, Elena Malysheva, in her programs also focuses on the mandatory treatment of this disease. According to her, you should contact a specialist with the appearance of the first alarming symptom. The unpleasant consequences of cystitis significantly worsen the quality of life of the patient.

Opinions of doctors and patients about the drug

"Urolesan", used for cystitis, has many different reviews from both patients and doctors, which is facilitated by its mass prescription. The presence of an overwhelming majority of positive responses indicates the effectiveness of the drug in acute and chronic cystitis.

People like the price of Urolesan and its good tolerability. Among the negative aspects, the bitter taste of the drug is noted, which does not reduce its therapeutic effect. In recent years, the release of the drug in capsules and syrup has successfully eliminated this drawback.

Use in combination with other medications

In urological practice, Urolesan is often used together with other medications. Such complex treatment increases the effectiveness of therapy and speeds up recovery.

Despite the fact that interactions with other drugs have been little studied, the combination of Urolesan with antibiotics has proven itself to be effective. The most common antibacterial agents for the treatment of cystitis are: Monural, Ceftriaxone, Levofloxacin, Amoxicillin and others.

The simultaneous use of Urolesan with antispasmodics (No-shpoy, Spazmalgon) enhances the analgesic effect and relieves symptoms.

Favorable interactions are noted regardless of the form of the drug. Complex therapy increases the therapeutic effect of drugs and leads to the desired result faster.

Can there be adverse reactions?

Despite the fact that Urolesan contains only plant components, this does not exclude the possibility of adverse reactions. The most common ones include:

  • dyspeptic disorders;
  • dizziness;
  • bradycardia, increased or decreased blood pressure;
  • allergic reactions (facial redness, rash, urticaria, angioedema).

The drug is generally well tolerated. But extremely rare adverse reactions can cause its cancellation. Compliance with all recommendations and dosages significantly reduces the risk of negative manifestations. You can reduce the likelihood of dyspeptic disorders by taking the drug strictly before meals. You also need to increase the volume of fluid consumed to 2 liters per day. This is due to the diuretic effect of the drug.

According to the instructions, the product should be stored in a dark place, inaccessible to children, at a temperature of no more than 25ºC. The syrup is good for 28 days after opening if stored in the refrigerator.
